Ok. I found the answer to my own question. You can download a VCAL file for calendar events, and if you want to add a contact, attach the VCARD to a VCAL. Pretty silly, really, but apparently it works.

Is there a way for users to suppress those godawful web app banner prompts? You developers may like them, but they're a waste of screen space after the first view. Either we're going to install your web app or we're not, but every time a developer's code causes those stupid screen-wasting banners to show up, we're more likely to change browsers, and even more likely to stop viewing your web pages entirely and thus kill your ad revenue.

Great post Max!

Question: One major hangup I'm experiencing with these tools is that a plain old webpage in iOS simulator won't complete loading when the Safari Web Inspector is open. The minute I close the Inspector window, the page completes loading. And then I have to reopen the window from scratch with the mouse at develop>iphone simulator. This makes the whole refresh process really slow. Is there a fix for this, or am I just doing something wrong?

Great post. I have found out that with iOS6 you can also display the keyboard onFocus. That's great news imo.

keyboardDisplayRequiresUserAction (http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/uikit/reference/UIWebView_Class/Reference/Reference.html)

When this property is set to YES, the user must explicitly tap the elements in the web view to display the keyboard (or other relevant input view) for that element. When set to NO, a focus event on an element causes the input view to be displayed and associated with that element automatically.

The default value for this property is YES.
